As a mare's predicted due date approaches, the days and nights are
often filled with anticipation and excitement. Although this process
usually occurs without any human intervention, the possibility of
serious complications warrants the close monitoring of the mare during
the foaling process. Further complicating the situation is the fact that
any disturbances may delay the onset of labor and that 70% of mares
foal at night.
For these reasons, we would be happy to assist you by attending the
foaling of your mare. At our facility, we provide 24 hr/day monitoring
and are positioned to provide emergency veterinary intervention should
it be required by either mare or foal. We recommend delivering your mare
to our facility 2-3 weeks prior to her due date in order to allow her
to acclimate to her surroundings prior to foaling.
